Hey Chris,

Don't shout, we hear you !

Oooooh, a modem :)
Got to think back a couple of years..................

Ok, is this a pci modem card, or plugged into a com or usb port?

How do you run this flasher, is it while xp is up and running, if so perhaps
xp has the modem open and so not accessible.
Do you have the address of the web page where you downloaded the flash
utility?

Make sure any auto dial software is disabled and anything else you have
which runs automatically at system start which may exlusively open the
modem.

To check nothing has hold of the modem, try talking to it

Go into start/all programs/accessories/communications/hyperterminal

Configure HT for your modem and then try an AT command

AT

It may not recognize the return key, if not try control-D

If it comes back with OK, you know hyperterminal is talking to it, so
nothing else has it locked.
If it doesn;t come back with anything or displays in use or busy, you'll
have to close or terminate any application which may have it open.

Or, do you run it from a dos boot disk ?
