Typing traditional charecters using Pinyin

Hello, I would like to type traditional Chinese characters (used in Taiwan)
with the Pinyin input system that is available for simplified characters. I
was able to do this on windows XP using the language bar, but am unable to do
this in Vista using the same process.

Any help would be much appreciated!

i use english version of vista home basic and same problem. i want to key in
both simplified and traditional chinese with pinyin.

solution: in control panel > regional and language options > keyboards and
languages, click "change keyboards". In 'installed services', install CH
(chinese PRC) with keyboard and "chinese simplified - microsoft pinyin IME"

so once installed, when you use CH (PRC)as input language, go to tool menu
"options", and in the second tab (MSPY New Experience & Classic input style),
just choose between simplified and traditional chinese 'character set'

thanks for taking the time to reply! I tried this and was able to change it
to traditional in the options menu, but when i type many of the characters
still seam simplified. Strangely enough, I can type words such as Taiwan
using traditional characters if I scroll through the list; however words such
as "xie xie" still show up with a simplified "yen" radical on the left.

hi zak, i have tested with MS Word 2003 and if i just change the character
set option (from simplified to traditional), then xie xie is correct for both
simplified and tradtional - ie the left hand radical changes accordingly. i
cant make my system produce the wrong result you are receiving.

sorry, i cant offer any more advice other than experimenting with the
language tool options. it must be something there because my vista works just
fine.

PS: my vista patches are up to date. you might want to check yours are
updated as well.
