typing outside set left margin

Situation: Large agreement signed and party to agreement
wishes to add additional language. After adding requested
language, I want to print a place for involved parties to
initial their approval outside the typing area of the
document(in the left margin). I am using Microsoft Word
2000 and short of going to a new page, reducing the font,
and doing a cut and paste and then making a copy of the
page which did work, I would like to know if there is a
feature in Word to allow typing outside the set left
margin.

I always used tables in this kind of situation...leaving the first column
empty except for any necessary lines reserved for writing on, and putting the
body in the second column. Then you increase your margins to bring the table
closer to the edge of the page. Oh, yeah, don't forget to make sure the grid
lines are gone when you are formatting.
