Typing Just Stops

Can someone help me please? When I'm typing (especially an AOL or Outlook
email) I look up to find that the typing has suddenly stopped. It pauses for
approximately ten seconds and then clicks back on; however, anything that is
typed in the meanwhile is lost. This is terribly annoying and I can't
figure out what to do. It's only started in the past four weeks. I've tried
restoring to a date earlier than four weeks; I clean the cache, freed hard
drive space, run scandisk and degragmented...nothing helped. Can you?

If the typing functions normally whilst off-line, such as working with
a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, then the problem is due to being
on-line. Might as well check just how good has the connection been and
just how busy is AOL or your ISP when this happens, especially when the
connection is a dial-up one.

Thanks for responding. I use this computer almost strictly for Internet
surfing and email and don't do a lot of typing in Word or ExCel, but I tested
it in Word and it appeared to be fine. It happens any and all times of the
day. It's sporatic yet constant. It happened while I was typing this
message. I have Broadband. Any suggestions?

What app ?
Are you using Outlook (Express) to enter your info or a newsreader ?
Is it fetching your mail when it hangs ?
How big are your temp file settings ?
How much memory ? How big is cache ? etc
Is system setup to give background svsc or Apps priority ?
start- control panel- system - adv - performance

let us know .

I use Outlook Express and AOL email. It's when I'm typing an email or a
message that I notice it. I'm not a computer whiz, so I'm not sure about the
questions you are asking. I've cleared the temp files and have tons of
memory. I'm not sure about the syst background or Apps priority. When I
checked control panel, systems, advanced, etc. it shows that "Programs" is
checked instead of system background. Is that correct?

The trojan in your machine is communicating with the mother ship, probably
sending thousands of spams to unsuspecting receipients in your name. You can
expect to be shunned by the internet community in short order.

Well, it's possible.

Have you done the intensive searches and scans for malware?
