Typing in Word 2007 Uses 50% of Total CPU Usage

PeterDH

When i type fast, my cpu usage jumps to 50% and the display of text on the
screen becomes laggy. This is quite annoying. In addition, I have a Intell
Core 2 Duo, so i have 2 processors. Word is actually using all the processing
power of one of my processors just for me typing!

Please tell me whats going on. Word processing should be the lowest usage
activity on a computer next to idling (a completely different topic there)

Thanks for your help

You may have an overzealous virus checker - Checking of Word/Office
documents can usually be deselected in the AV program e.g. in Norton AV by
turning off its Office Plug-in.

With some versions of the Norton product it may be necessary to unregister
the calling DLL by running the following command line from Windows > Start >
Run

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
or
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton
antivirus\officeav.dll"

Other AV apps eg the popular free edition of Grisoft's AVG antivirus
software, require similar treatment.
In this instance:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgoff2k.dll"
