typing email message

When I am writing an email message, the letters seem to jump from one
sentence to another, all on their own. Even if I type very very slowly. What
can I do about this.

I have Windows Vista and IE.
 
Are using a laptop with a touchpad? If so, go into its 'mouse' driver
settings in Control Panel, enable "Palm Check" and a setting that disables
cursor movement while typing.
