composing email

Rose

Hello, when I am typing an email it seems that I can only type so much and
then my curser jumps backwards into another part of what I've typed. It's
done it four times now as I am typing this. Is it mail? Is it something else?
Any suggestions on how to correct?

Is it a laptop? Could be a mouse driver problem or just a bad mouse.
Does the mouse pointer move at all if you don't touch the machine for a
while? Is it a cordless keyboard / mouse?

Hi Charlie,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. I use the mouse pad that is on the
computer. It seems to happen only when composing email. Not on the internet,
or in word. I'm going to try and change my font and see if that somehow has
anything to do with it. It's just pain strange. thank you for your reply.

Actually if you google for something like mouse moves on it's own and
add various words like email you will find people describing similar
problems with various combinations of hardware / software. You could
check with dell to see if there are new drivers for the machine or ask
if they have seen this problem before.

What are you using for mail? You could try another program such as
Windows live mail and Thunderbird, both of which are rather like outlook
express.

Go into its mouse driver settings in Control Panel, enable "Palm Check"
and another setting that disables cursor movement while typing.
