Hello,
I have a user that is experiencing a typing delay in windows xp. Whenever
she types something, it takes a few seconds for the words to appear. It
doesn't happen all the time, but it is a pain for her. She has 768mb of RAM
so i don't believe RAM is an issue and her page file is setup properly.

What else can we try? Thanks in advance.

I imagine there are many reasons that this could happen but the only time I
have seen it myself is when there was an extremely large number of temporary
internet files. Try clearing them if you haven't already and see if that
helps.

She received the laptop only a few months back, but I'll have her try it and
see what happens.

Thanks...

Well, I guess they just don't make key loggers as fast as they used to be.
Or maybe like XP, they just start slowing down after a time.

Starting the Indexing Service, or downloading the new MS search facility and getting it to log
thousands of e-mails and temporary internet files (don't forget the 'invisible' 'ContentIE5'
folders) also slows things down as it only indexes while the internet programmes are open. (Other
messages here and in the Outlook Express group tell you how to get rid of the temporary files.)

I had a similar issue that I tracked down to having my mp3 player
plugged into a USB port. If I left it connected it would cause typing
delays...
