When a url is typed in the address bar without http://
there is a long delay in opening the page. Typing with
http:// or by using a favorites shortcut is instaneous.

Is there a cure for this?

Try the following and see if it helps:

I have to type http:// in address bar now

Download and run:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG to restore
your default Search functionality and reset your prefixes. You'll have to
manually re-select any Customizations you may have had, however.


If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Adding HTTP:// to web addresses

You can check these keys and edit them, if necessary, as follows:

When I type the address without the http:// it takes (on the watch) 55
seconds to load the web page; with the http:// it's instantaneous. I've tried
all the fixes that were posted here, but I still have the issue.

Well, I uninstalled my HP printer software, and now the address bar is
working fine...go figure.
