type ahead combo

What lets a combo box allow "type ahead" entry ; by that I mean if I have
1000 records that start with "A" and 100 with "AB" and 10 with "ABCDE" etc
I'd like to be able to type "abc" and watch the curor jump to the first
"ABC" record.

Some of my combo boxes allow this to happen, some dont; they only alow for a
first letter search.

Why ? I've studied the properties and dont see any reason ...

It's the "Auto Expand" property: just set it to Yes if you want that effect.
I'm pretty sure it's the default to have it on, but it is possible to turn it
off.
