type a word, delay before appearing on screen

I type a word in Outlook and there is a delay before it appears on the
screen, and if I go fast it just skips letters. Kind of like it is
hiccupping or something. Maddening. It does this sometimes in Word also.
Can someone help?

Both Outlook and Word are bloatware. Maybe your workstation is running out
of memory and/or CPU cycles? For a comparison, try Notepad.
