two versions installed. can anyone help

i had an installation of xp home which crashed and i couldnt repair it. so i installed another installation on the same drive unpartitioned hoping i could acce3ss my old desktop. However when i log in i dont get the option to log in to the desktop from the initial install. just the new windows which i installed in c:\windows2\. I can see the other desktop file in the documents and settings but it is not accessible under the second installation. is there any way to log in to the previous installs deskto

No - but you can copy all the files from it, if the account is still in
Documents and Settings (C:\).

Thank you that looks promising. I shall tell you how i go. Time to load up the other drive again LOL
