I have two sets of 'Personal Folders'. Both refuse to be deleted, both
claim to be where my contacts are stored, emails are delivered etc etc

How do I delete these. I just want my email to be in an Inbox, my Contacts
in my Contacts folder, etc etc. I don't need 'Personal Folders'

Personal Folders are where your contacts, calendar, etc are stored if you're
not using an Exchange Server. Can you right click on either of them and
choose "Close"?

I've also experienced several personal folders. In my case they were exact
copies of each other (so what happend in one happend in the other), but it
was imposible to close the extra one. I couldn't even see ANY of them in the
data-file list.
Solution to my problem (maybe yours too):
Create a new Outlook profile.
-Close Outlook
-Open Control panel
-Click the e-mail icon
-Choose view profile
-Create a new profile and select it as standard.
You do have to re-enter your mail account settings and maybe some other
personal settings, but you can ofcourse go back to the way it was by changing
back to the original profile again.

Good luck!

Yes, I've seen this too; it seems to be related to a profile issue; MS
doesn't handle the profiles the way one would think all the time. I know I
tried to get the profile to default to a networked folder and I still haven't
been able to completely straighten out that profile; I ended up creating a
new one and just letting MS do what it wanted to do. As long as I didn't
try to change the data file locations to a networked folder, it was OK.

The most common cause is someone overwriting their PST with another of the
same name. Microsoft's handling of the mail profile has nothing to do with
it.
