I have Windows XP for work on a notebook computer. I want to be able to also
use it on my network at home. What configuration would I need to accomplish
this?
Please start by providing IPConfig data from the laptop, and from one home
computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
The process of using the laptop on your home network, and alternately on your
work network, will vary according to several factors. How are your network
settings configured at home, and at work? Automatic addressing (DHCP) at both
locations will make things easy, but you can get by without DHCP at one
location. How about network authentication - domain or workgroup, both at home
and work? And what do you want to do with the laptop - internet access, file
sharing, or both?
Cheers,
Chuck
