With my laptop, I had both a wireless network adapter (11 Mbit) an
ethernet adapter (100 Mbit). Normally, only the wireless adapter is
connected. However, there are times when I want faster access to my
internal network. So, I plug in my ethernet adapter (and leaving the
wireless adapter connected) and want it to be the primary network
connection. I did this by:

1. Right click on "My Network Places" and selecting Properties.
Alternatively, you can go to Control Panel and double click on "Network
connections".

2. Click on Advanced -> Advanced Settings.

3. In the upper window, move the network connection (NIC2 for you) to
be above NIC1. This will cause Windows to use NIC2 before NIC1.
