Two monitors

After the addition of a second monitor, I have a problem.

1. After checking the box allowing my desktop to appear on
the second monitor, it does not.

2. If I drag a folder to the second monitor and open it,
it opens on the primary monitor.

What am I doing wrong?

You should read your video card manual. It as nothing to
do with Windows XP.

what are you expecting to see that you aren't??

so you do see something on the second monitor??

maybe nothing, you may just be expecting xp to do more with the second
monitor than it really does. when you 'extend' the desktop to the second
monitor the only thing that shows there is the wallpaper. you can then drag
things over there after they are open, but most programs i have tried when
you open them up will open on the primary monitor even if they were closed
on the second one... not all programs properly remember their locations on
dual monitors.

First thing, do you have a dual video card?
