Two Internet Explorer Questions

When I log off or turn off the computer or restart it, the End Program Now
Window comes up titled "explorer.exe" and I don't have to click End Now
because it'll go away within a second. How can I fix this?

My other question is about opening images. I just recently updated to
Internet Explorer 7, and in the other version(s) when I clicked,
File>Open>Browse and choose an image, then Open, it came up in Windows Fax
Viewer, but in the new version it opens in the browser. Is there a way I can
change this?

Windows has a feature that will automatically close those
"non-responsive" program files that you typically have to intervene
with (CTRL + ALT + DELETE style) Close apps automatically & quickly at
shutdown.
Go to Start -> Run, copy & paste -> regedt32 or regedit and find/select
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Change the AutoEndTasks key
from "0" to "1." Close Regedit & Reboot.
