Two gateways with same metric

Hi, i have a simple question.

In Windows 2000. If you set up two gateways with same
metric. Would this setup allow for load balance? or any
request would just go out one gateway?

I don't think that is allowed. You can use route print to see what shows up.
Either way, W2K can use only one defailt gateway at a time. The second one
may be used for dead gateway detection. --- Steve

Thanks for the quick reply.

If i have windows set up with two default gateway. and one
goes down, windows will switch to the second one, correct?
if so, how long does windows waits until it tries the
first gateway again?

If dead gateway detection is enabled. I am not sure of all the details. the
links below will explain better. I think the problem is that once it
switches gateways, it will stay at that gateway as long as it works. ---
