I made a clone of my main XP drive using Acronis True Image. The clone went
all right but Acronis advised me not to have both WinXP drives in the
computer when I boot up because one of the drives will become unbootable.
Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks

Only one can boot up, a system drive will boot with one of your HDD set as
the bootable ie. "C:\" drive, the other one will only act as a Data drive,
ie. "D:\" drive.
Both drive has the same NT Loader (ntldr) file, unless you install windows
XP and instal it on the other drive, the installing process will add a boot
menu into the ntldr file so windows knows where the "Windows" is placed.
You can change the name of the menu so you can seperates between the 2
windows:

Before:

1. Windows XP Professional
2. Windows XP Professional

After:

1. Windows XP Professional on C drive
2. Windows XP Professional on D drive

Actually you can change or add the menu names anyway you like.

You can have more than one bootable drive. Change the BIOS to boot from the drive you want.
