Two cangrow boxes in the same detail field

My issue is that I need to have two text boxes beside eachother in a detail
field of a report, both have the cangrow property set to yes. But when for
example the textbox to the left grow to more than one line it appears an
empty line in the right text field like this:

left right
left
right


Could anyone give me a hint on how to solve this problem.

Make sure the Top property of each text box is the same.

If I remember correctly, having your two textboxes aligned across the top
means the right-most one will "hold open" the left-most textbox, if there's
anything in the right-most textbox (even if there's nothing in the
left-most).

One way around this might (only might) be to try using columns, so that your
left and right textboxes would not actually be aligned, just look that way.
