I've found in about the last couple weeks that the menu delay
(MenuShowDelay) attribute is not sticky - i.e., I set it with Tweakui
and it's satisfactory, but after restarting it's back to being "0"
which makes things much too fast for using a laptop pointer
(eraserhead).
So... I used Regmon from sysinternals.com to see what exactly tweakui
is setting and it confirmed that it's HKCU\Control
Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay as well as, I assume, a reference counter
as to how many programs have the registry open for modification
(HKCU\SessionInformation\ProgramCount).
So.... I try setting those values directly but the performance of the
actual menu delay doesn't change at all from zero no matter what value
I enter in the registry. But, as soon as I use tweakui, it's ok
again. But, once again, even logoff and back on and it's back to
being zero and, alas, MUCH too fast.
WHAT THE HE** AM I MISSING HERE?????
thanks for any help
