TV hookup

I cannot get my laptop monmitor to show on TV. I have done the display thing
with 2 monitors and can identify 1 and 2. The windows logo screen shows and
when I select the tv as monitor my desktop screen appears for about 1 second
and goes blank. The display setting reverts to the default. I am using an
S-Video cable.

you set the resolution and refresh rate to match tv?? 50hz
