turns on by itself

My Dell Computer with Windows XP is turning on by itself.
When finished with computer we turn it off then several
hours later find it has turned itself on. Any suggestions
how to stop this!!!!!

Check to see whether the power button on your computer actually powers off
or puts it into standby.

Check your computer BIOS settings for Wake On LAN and/or Wake On Modem
settings (or something similar). Disable them. Check the documentation for
your BIOS for details on how to access, modify and save these settings.

Wake on LAN and Wake on Ring are designed to power up a computer from
the powered off state.
And I mean powered off, not Standby.
