Turning off Hardware Acceleration to show AVI in PPT

We cannot view movie files in PowerPoint (2003) slides when hardware
acceleration is set to full.
It's a know issue based on previous posts I've read in this newsgroup.

Any chance there is going to be a fix for this? A lot of clients are using
hardware acceleration & I cannot expect them to have their IT personnel shut
this off every time they run the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation with an
AVI in it.

The "solution" is to use a more PPT friendly format for the video. (WMV7 is
about as generic as it comes.)
