I use NTI CD-Maker 6.0 Platinum. FileCD, with which one can
drag/drop to a CD-RW, worked well in the previous Win98SE.

The problem is that XP Prof takes over, saying the files are ready to be
written to CD, but of course can't write to a CD-RW, instead reporting that
the CD is not recordable or is full. Using FileCD directly offers to open
Windows Explorer, which then drops straight to XP's "Files ready to be
written to CD ..." function.

Is there a way of by-passing the CD packet-writing function of Windows XP,
to allow FileCD to do its job?

Thanks

Go into Control Panel, then Administrative Tools. Look for Services, click
and enter... Scroll down to IMAPI CD burning... double click and look
carefully at the window.. You will have the ability to disable this
service.. Of course, it can be restarted if necessary later.....Your other
burning app will take over those functions....

Easiest thing to do is go into My Computer and right-click on the cd-rw
drive, left-click on Properties. You'll see a Recording tab. On that
tab, clear the check box that says "Enable recording on this drive".
Click Apply and OK and you're set. This will not affect the third-party
burning software.

First in My Computer, right click the drive, Properties, Recording page
and uncheck 'Enable recording' (which does not affect third party
software). If that is not enough, then in Control Panel - Admin Tools -
Services, look for IMAPI CD Burning and double click; set Startup type
to Disabled.
