Turn off Safe Mode

I have a computer with windows xp sp2, I decided to boot into safe mode so I
can do some pc maintainance i.e. clean disk, disk defrag, etc. I went into
msconfig and opted for safe mood boot up with networking. Now the computer
boots in safe mode and stays with a black screen at the desktop level. The
mouse moves but no icons or any windows features. Do not know what to do?
During bootup i only have 2 choices F2 for setup and F12 for boot menu, but
these choices doesn't let me change back into normal mode. Any ideas.
Thanks inadvance!

During the boot process (into safe mode) are you hitting the F8 key to get to
the boot menu? From there you can select Normal Mode.

Good Luck

I tried F8, picked every option from normal boot, last known config,
debugging, etc. but it still boots into safe mode. i tried booting using my
xp cd and using repair option however i don't recall my administrator
password so i could not proceed. any other options to get back into normal
mode
