I have this problem where Excel turns a number into a date. Eg. when I input
7440-09-7, Excel turns it into 9/7/7440 which is not what I want. I image
there is a setting that can turn this default behavior off. Can someone help
me?? Thanks

Hi Ky,

Two options:
1. format the cell as text before inputting the data; or
2. input a tick mark (') as the first character.

Cheers

Format the cell as text before you type the number in, or precede the number
with an apostrophe.
If you're looking for a global setting, you're out of luck.
