tuning Clear Type

What things is Microsoft's Clear type tuner pages actually setting?

I thought there was only an ON-OFF setting for Clear Type in
display properties.

Do the settings from that page above apply to all applications and
all screens in XP?

you may have the same effect from:- Control Panel>>Display
Properties>>Appearance>>Effects

Those settings you see on the page control how cleartype looks, and yes the
settings are maintained and used on all XP and its applications..

What program you need for Clear Type is a freeware one found here that gives
you an adjustment bar to 'fine tune'. Works *much* better than MS's version.
