TS Client Timeouts and limited # of logons.

Win 2K Server has 20 CALS. TS has 16 Licenses. Users in
TS Admin all configured with a "NEVER" time out. There
are only 15 Physical Thin Client nodes connected to the
Server. All connetions cannot log in at the same time.
Someone has to log off to allow another user to log on.
Logged in connections time out in spite of the NEVER time
out configurations. Help and Thanks.

Do you have any users besides the 15 TS clients? Check
how many sessions are running on the server, you may be
running out of win2k cals. This happens to me all the
time, a non-ts user would access the server, they continue
to hold a license even if no files are open.

.
There are more users set up in the system than the 16 TS
clients but there is never more than the 15 physical
station logons plus a possible admin logon on the server
console. We would hope that Win2k is not looking at the
number of configured users even if they are not all
logged on to come up with actual users for Win2k Cals or
TS Licenses used. Also why the timeouts on TS sessions
when all users are configured with a NEVER time out??

Humor me and disable the License Logging Service (NOT the TSLS), also look in the event logs for errors that are occurring ar this time. The event log should tell you why you're having this problem.

There are more than 16 Users Configured on the System
but they never exceed the number of licenses for number
logged on at one time. Also am unable to account for the
Termininal Services session time outs.

Thanks, Jay

Quote "but they never exceed the number of licenses for number logged on at one time". Microsoft does NOT do concurrent licensing, so this doesn't matter
