Trying to save data-reg corruption

Original message Error= winnt/system32/config/system corrupt or missingTry a
repair with vendor operating system cd. Cd opens with C:\winnt\ cannot get
wind xp disk to repair." There is procedure to fix wth a caution that proc
may not work with vendor installed XP and may lose repair console. Looking
for a bck up plan to save data. Question: Can the hard drive be removed and
installed as a 2nd drive on another computer then off load the data? Anyone
tried this? would it work??
Would love to save the data the do a complete reload of wind xp from scratch.

Of course, I do it all the time. Though if the data is on an NTFS
partition, you can only get to the data with a PC running Win 2000 or
XP. If you're not sure of the partition, best bet is to use Win2K or
XP
