Hello,
It's been almost a year since I bought an OEM Windows XP Home Edition SP2 CD
from Fry's Electronics. I bought the software because I was fixing my old
computer until I decided to buy a new computer instead. (the guy at the store
said that I needed to XP CD if I was switching out motherboards with my old
pc)
Fry's allowed me to return the motherboard (it wasn't compatiable with my
Intel processor) but they would not let me return the OEM XP SP2 CD
regardless. The disc was never opened from it's packaging nor has the serial
number been used.
I was told to contact Microsoft's Returns Department/Money Back Guarantee
program, so I did. I called them and the lady said I could return the OEM
software (if it were unused) and they would return my money back, if I
shipped the OEM cd to the company.
I called 2 weeks later to see what was going on with the returning process
and they told me that I couldn't be refunded my money back. They stated that
the person I was talking to was still in training and didn't know about the
OEM policy. So, I was sent back the OEM CD a few days later.
Up to this point, since the holidays were coming at the time, I lost track
of trying to return my OEM CD. Since then, the OEM CD has been sitting in my
cabinet until I was cleaning this week.
Now, I was wondering if I could somehow get my money back for this unused
OEM XP SP2 cd? I'm pretty sure the serial number hasn't been used and of
course the CD packaging hasn't been opened yet.
If you need any more information, please ask.
Thanks
-Jose
