I'm attempting to install a new OEM copy of XP on a newly assembled machine.
It recognizes hard drive & formats it. It installs setup files and when it
goes to do the main install, I get a screen prompt that says: "File setup
placed on hard drive is not a valid Windows XP system image. May be problem
with CD." It asks if I want to continue or abort. If I continue I get a
continuous string of individual file installation error/problems. I
exchanged CD thinking it was the problem;however, the replacement copy does
the same thing. The only files on the hard drive are what come from the
installation disc. Can anybody tell me what's giong on here? All suggestions
will be greatly appreciated
