It (PC BIOS) has traversed the sequence for booting and reached a
Network boot, which generates your message. You need to ensure
that the BIOS boot ordering has both the SATA controller and it's
drives selected in the proper order. Many BIOS setups today have
a Drive selection option ( Drive 0 or the Firmware ID for the Drive
such as Maxtor....)

thanks for the help

I had a look in the BIOS-

on one line it had

Hard Disk Boot Priority--- Bootable Cards

could this be the video card> (NVIDIA??)

thing is, I couldnt change this setting

all SATA was enabled though

You might need to look in the motherboard manual -- I've never seen exactly
that wording, but I've seen similar wording for booting using an add-in
controller card rather than booting from a drive connected directly to the
motherboard.

I had a similar problem and found that by changing the boot priority to 'ZIP
Drive' the installation booted from the SATA drive.

Install only the sata drive and the CD-Rom drive; check in BIOS that the
sata is recognized and that the boot order is CD/sata drive/floppy; install
XP (sata drivers on floppy at F6). Sata drive should be "Primary Master" and
CD-ROM "Secondary Master."
If sata drive is not recognized in BIOS, indeed check the sata cable - i.e.
the connectors don't make contact all the time; re-plug a few times or check
for cable position so that it does not put lateral pressure on connectors
when you close the box, for ex.

thanks all-

your help is much appreciated

I finally got it to work

the BIOS had not been recoginzing the drive, therefore no RAID or NVIDIA
drivers would either and of course neither would XP-

what I did was hit F10 to set up RAID array- where the driver was listed,
then added it to the the list and voila

simple in the end but what a confusing nightmare

thanks again
