I have an IBM thinkpad T23 with Windows 2000 Professional
OS. I am trying to install MS Office. However I get the
message that the administrator has setup a policy that
restricts this type of installation. I get this even
when I log in as administrator.
Where is that type of policy set and how can I disable it?

Is this a domain computer or your own computer and are you the first owner??
Anyow run gpedit.msc to bring up Local Group Policy and look for enabled
settings most likely in user configuration/administrative templates/Windows
Components/Windows installer. --- Steve

Talk to system administrator. If your system is a member
of a domain or AD, your system can be locked down despite
you logging in locally with admin privileges. Ah yes,
the power of being a System Admin.
