trying to install Adobe Reader

I have Vista Business and trying to install Adobe Reader. At the point where
I hit RUN, I get an error that says more or less that the Temp folder is not
writeable or the drive is not accessible. One thing I did do is check the
Properties of the Windows Temp folder and it was Protected so I un-protected
it. It still made no difference, still can't install Acrobat Reader. Can
someone out there let me know how to fix this problem, thanks.

I have Ultimate and it did the same thing to me. I just ran it anyway and
installed it.

right click on the installer you downloaded and select run as administrator

Log on as the administrator to that computer and turn off User Access
Control. You can then install Adobe Reader. I ran into the same problem a
while back and this is the solution that worked. You can also right click
on the install file and select run as administrator.

You either need to briefly re-enable UAC (as backwards as that sounds)
or download the Acrobat Reader installation file to your hard drive and
run it in "WinXP Compatibility" mode.

Joe, that is contrary to the way it worked for me for Adobe 8 from a locally stored installation file on a different partition..
First attempt with UAC on and no other options didn't complete the install process
Second attempt with UAC off and run as admin didn't work, Adobe errored on opening
Third attempt with UAC on and run as admin did.

Tip... Try Foxit as a substitue for Adobe Reader.
It's almost a shock to find out how much better
Foxit performs.

In order to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0, the User Account Control (UAC)
must be enabled. Once you have completed the installation you can then turn
off UAC.
