Trying Running The User-Level Wizard

Hello Everyone

I have been trying to implement a security system in an Access 2000
database. I want to run the User-Level Wizard, but I get a message that I
must be a member of the Admins group. I have tried different ways to achieve
that, but I ahev not been successful. Can anybody help me? I shall
appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lynn

I am very sorry for not being able to respond to your question earlier. Not
only I am new to this community, but also, I recently subscribed to a
Internet Service Provider. I have just realized that the pop-up blocker was
on, and that was not allowing me to reply or even to ask for help on this
site.

That said, among other things, I tried to log on as a member of the Admins
group without success. I am brand-new to database, and I am working on a
case problem. I did all I was able; I read the Access Help, and I thought I
needed online help. I will appreciate it if anybody could clearly tell me
what to do , because I have a feeling that I have not been doing the right
thing. Please keep in mind that I am completely new in database security.

Thanks

Every time you start Access, it is using a so-called "workgroup file".
Access installs a workgroup file "system.mdw" that it will use, by
default, unless you tell it otherwise.

You can "tell it otherwise" in one of two ways.

(1) By using the so-called Workgroup Administrator program to select
("join") a different workgroup file for use with all databases
thereafter, or

(2) By starting your database with a shortcut that uses the /wrkgrp
switch to choose a different workgroup file for that one run.

If something says that you must be "a member of the Admins group", this
usually means that you are not using the workgroup file which was in
effect when you created that database.

The solution is, to find the correct workgroup file, then re-select it
using method (1) or (2) above.

HTH,
TC
