try to access a folder in my XP

Here is my problem
I just installed a windows xp mce and it was great. but after i
download a patch(not the official ones from windows) then after i
tried to restart the comp, right before the logon window,windows
detects some error and shuts windows down. So i can't get on in my xp
anymore. So installed the other xp mce on my hdd and try to access the
datas in my old xp. but i set a password for my old account when it
was working so i can't access the old account's folder from the new xp.
i know the password to the old folder. Some one please help
