troubleshoot music files

whenever i try to put a music file into my presentation it comes up with
"powerpoint cannot insert a sound from the selceted file. Verify the path and
file format are correct and then try again" there is no other way i can get
the song on to send to other people. my version of powerpoint is powerpoint
2003.

Could you tell us what type of sound file you are trying to insert.

music files maybe something has messed up the settings:

If its ripped from a commercial CD it may have DRM protection
