Troubles with DVD disks

I have recurring problems with my DVD movies. In this DEll Dimension
3000, I have a Teak DVD+RW. Some movies I wrote on Sony DVDs would
stick and or skip so I went to using only TDKs with better results.
However, on rewriting a movie onto a previously written TDK diskette I
found the movie again would stick and skip with the problem growing
worse toward the end of the movie and finally it locked up completely.
Anyone have a solution or a suggestion, perhaps?

It could be many things, the disc, the burner, the speed at which you
burned, settings used, amount of content, the dvd player, or any combination
of any of them. I'm afraid it is no exact science at present, so it's best
to buy good quality discs that you have found work well with your player,
burn slowly, with bitrate settings no more than 8,000k for both audio and
video combined, don't fill the disc and then hope........
