Trouble with releasing & renew IP adresse

I am running Windows XP Pro (Norwegian) and I can't
release the WinXP assigned IP adresse 169.xx.xx.xx and
renew it to get data from our DHCP server in the network.
Any idea? Thanks in advance!

hit your start button, then hit your run button and type, cmd; when you get the command black picture type ipconfig/release ; then after that command type ipconfig/renew. that should do it. If not type ipconfig/all and that will tell you where the problem lies, if it is in your access point or your actual connection.
