Trouble with "Read-Only" Files

We have just changed our operating system on our computer
from Windows ME to Windows XP. Many of our old programs,
such as our CD writing program were not compatible with
XP, so we had to purchase an upgraded version. We have
the Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 version now (previously had
version 4). When I tried to move data files to a CD they
ended up being "read only" files and now I can't access
them to do any changes. Can you change the attributes on
a file so you can access them and do changes? (I have
tried that by going under properties in the particular
file, but it won't let me do that.) Is there some way I
can recoup these files so they can be worked with again
and not be "read-only" files or have I lost them?

Any help you can give me would be MUCH appreciated, as I
don't want to have to retype all of these files.

Thank you very much for your time.

You can not change the "READ-ONLY" attributes when using CD-R and EZ CD
Creator 6. To do what you want, you will need to use CD-RW media and look
for Drag to Disk module on Roxio.

In orde to get the previous CD version of the files to not be read-only,
copy them back to the hard drive and change the atrributes from READ-ONLY.

Here's a handy utility for clearing the read only attribute in bulk.
