Trouble with Microsoft Intellitype software

Hello, I hope someone can help with this annoying issue.

I have a Compaq Presario SR1320NX running Windows XP Home Edition with
Service Packs 1 and 2 added. I added a Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard
connected via USB 2.0 port with accompanying Microsoft Intellitype Pro
Version 6.0 software. Recently, I get random appearances of an Error Box
informing me that the software has encountered a problem and must be shut
down. I can restart the software, but the error continues to occur
incessantly, leaving me unable to use any of the keyboard functions until I
reboot my computer.

I have run two virus/malware scanners looking for something that could be
causing this, without success. The Device manager says the keyboard in
functioning properly. The Help and Support troubleshooter cannot classify or
solve the problem and none of the suggested strategies for solving the
problem have worked. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software twice,
but the problem persists. I can't find anything comparable to my problem on
any of Microsoft's support pages. If anyone can offer any help, I would be
very grateful.

My guess would be that you have some trouble with the USB 2.0 drivers. I
would use Device Manager to remove that and restart to find it again.

Mark,

Thank you for your quick reply. Please clarify one point for me. Are you
recommending that I use the Device Manager to Uninstall the keyboard after
disconnecting it, then reconnecting it after restart? Because that was one
of the suggestions I got from the Troubleshooter. I tried it and it didn't
work. I will try it again, anyway.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB Root Hub device(s),
Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers
again automatically.

Mark,

Thanks for clearing that up. Unfortunately, it did not work, and the
problem persists. I even moved the keyboard to another USB port and the
problem continued. Do you think it would do any good to roll back the
drivers to an earlier version?
