trouble with Jettec refill kit for Epson- help!

Jason Fargo

I must confess, I'm really beginning to wonder what good these refill kits
are! Here's my latest problem and I hope someone can help me:

When I refill the black cartridge on my Epson 580 with Jettec refill ink, I
get weak or no black print. I have followed the Jettec instructions exactly
and have cleaned the nozzles, etc. I have even covered/ uncovered the top
refill holes as my understanding is that you don't cover the top holes on
the Epson cartridges, but anyway it doesn't matter because I still loose
black print. The only way I have been able to restore black is to replace
with a new Epson black cartridge. Any idea why this is occurring and what
do I do about it? Now I have refilled the color cartridges with the Jettec,
left the tops uncovered, and they are working fine. Is the Jettec ink of
the wrong shade/ viscosity and, if so, what would be a good brand of blank
ink refill?

Thanks,
Jason

Hi'a

I had the same problem with refilling, Hardly ever consistent.

In the end I went to www.choicestationary.com and got 10 Col & 10 Blk (20 in
total) Compatible Carts for £25.00 Delivered. or £4.29 for 2 (1 Blk 1 Col)

Tons of deals.

There's also www.inkcycle.com

I know it's not the solution you asked for, but it may make things just that
bit esier.

Worked out cheaper than refiling.

There are a number of possible causes.

Indeed the ink may have the wrong viscosity (too viscous), or you may
have trapped air in the cartridge in pockets, or, if it is a used
cartridge that carrier other ink it may have reacted and clotted.

The cartridge does require some air venting or the ink will not flow
properly.

If you are willing to experiment, take a drop or so of the ink, and
place it in some ammoniated window cleaner in a clear glass, and see if
the drop clots or floats on top, or otherwise doesn't easily mix with
the liquid. If it disburses relatively quickly into the fluid, you can
take a few eyedropper fulls and add it to the ink in the cartridge, and
see if this dilution is enough to get the ink flowing.

If now, I'd contact Jettec to make sure you have the correct ink
formulation for your printer.

Chances are since the printer works with the Epson cartridge, the black
ink is at fault.

I have seen more problems with black 3rd party inks than colored inks.
