Trouble with "File As" on new contacts

I have read through old messages, and can't find the exact problem that I am
having, so hopefully someone will be able to help me.

I am running Outlook 2007, with Business Contact Manager. When I add a new
contact and type in the person's name, I use the format "John Smith." For
some reason, Outlook seems to be mis-identifying the First and Last names,
because no matter how I set my "File As" options, I either get "John, Smith"
or "Smith John."

I have tried setting the default "Full Name" order on all three available
settings: "First (Middle) Last", "First Last1 Last2" and "Last First", but
none of them seem to fix my problem.

And just to emphasize--I am not looking to fix currently existing
contacts--this problem is occurring when I create brand new contacts.

Last First order is the problem. Did you restart outlook after making the
change? I've noticed some goofiness with it I you don't restart but its also
buggy and random so it may not help.

The default "Full Name" order should either be "First (Middle) Last" or
"First Last1 Last2".

Just out of curiousity - how are you entering the contact's name?
(specifically - typing it in the <FullName> field or entering the individual
name components in their respective fields after clicking on the <FullName>
button?) When entering the complete name in the fullname field - Outlook
parses the various elements which it does not always do correctly and can
lead to the issue described.
