trouble with "dots" on canon s800

Newbie here. I have a Canon EOS rebel DSLR set on auto. Pictures are jpg
and are aprox 2.5 MB in size. Printer is Canon s800. The printed pictures
all show " dots" especially notable in the shadows and darker colors. for
instance, hair looks like someone took a crayon and just dabbed dots of
color in these areas. I am using High quality print setting, high gloss
Kodak premium picture paper. It looks as if too much ink is being applied
but when I printed at standard setting, the same dots appear. Any
sugestions? I have yet to print a picture large or small without this
problem happening. I have cleaned heads, nozzles , and rollers.

I've had TERRIBLE results with Kodak paper in my S800. It's like the
ink "beads up" on the paper, and then gets caught by the head on the
next pass and smeared. It was worst in darkest areas of the prints.
It seems there is a problem with Canon BCI-6 inks not working well
with Kodak paper.

I'd suggest that you try Canon Photo Paper Pro. I've also had good
success with Epson Matte Paper Heavyweight using the "High Resolution
Paper" setting. I bet you'll see a difference.

Please report back.

kodak paper doesn't work. Use photo paper pro, epson, or my fav,
office depot.

I think I will try different paper, I have heard back from more than one source that Kodak paper is not really good with canon ink.

Red River Polar Gloss also works well.
