Trouble upsizing .mdb to .adp

I'm am a first semester T-SQL student. My class deals with using SQL Server
through Access. I have MS Office Professional 2003 and am running Windows XP
Professional. I downloaded MSDE2000A.exe from microsoft.com because I was
told by my instructor that it is more than sufficient for our purposes; most
of my other classmates with computers at home have also downloaded this same
file. It downloads fine, and it installs fine using the command prompt to
SETUP SAPWD. The little server icon with the green arrow is in my task tray
and it says my SQL Server is running. Yet every time I try to upsize an .mdb
file to .adp, the upsizing report just says "Error" and tells me that all the
tables were skipped, and gives me absolutely no more information. Nobody else
in my class is having this trouble, and many are using the same configuration
as I am (Windows XP Pro, Access 2003, and MSDE2000A). I have tried
completely removing and reinstalling both MSDE and Office 2003 Pro, to no
avail. Nobody in my class can provide me with a solution, including my
instructor. It is very frustrating to say the least, because it forces me to
do all my homework in the school computer lab which is hard for me to find
time to do because of my schedule. Is there an easy fix to this problem, or
am I just outta luck?

I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I even created a very
simple database with 4 records and index, and the same happens on all my 3 XP
computers where I loaded MSDE from the Office disk. Are we the only ones?
