I have just bought and installed an external hard drive for my PC. It's an
80 GB drive, and I attempted to make a backup copy of my 20 GB internal hard
drive on it.

A few minutes into the process, a box opened saying "program xxx cannot be
copied, it is busy, stop all programs and try again." I closed all programs
that were apparently running, and tried again with the same result.

I restarted the computer in the Safe mode, and got the same result.

I tried copying only my "Documents" folders, with the same result.

Any offers of help will be appreciated.

Paul .... Here is exactly how the item reads:
"Cannot copy hiberfil: It is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

When I do a file search for hiberfil, btw, nothing is found.

Go to control panel, power options, and disable hibernation. Then try again.
I'm not saying this will fix it but hiberfil.sys is the area of your HDD,
the same size as your installed RAM, the windows uses for hibernating.
