Trouble surfing

HP just reformatted my hard drive, I can surf the web but only to some
places. If I have to sign in....no go. I have updated my java didn't help.
Cant use windows update, can't log in to mcaffe, pogo,webmail, or yahoo;
can't go to any microsoft download pages but i can get to newsgroups!
can get to pogo just can't log in, couldn't get to download page at
shareware.com but went to winzip directly and could download from there! I
have turned off any thing that even remotely resembled a firewall, a virus
scanner or anything that appeared to be limiting in anyway to no avail. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe your cookies are being blocked.
Go to Control Panel / Internet Options / Privacy tab / "Settings" section.
What settng is on the sliding scale? High? Block all Cookies? Medium is fine
for me.
