Trouble retaing WordPad images in Rich Text Format

When I copy and paste pictures from Paint, (or other JPEG images from other
programs), between blocks of text in WordPad and click outside the image to
confirm it, it seems OK.
I am careful to use "Save as" to store the amended document in a known
location.
However, when I open that same document the images and any text below them
has disappeared.

Does this mean that WordPad as an application is failing to work properly,
or was it never intended to retain images ?

Using INSERT successfully creates a link which can be opened to reveal an
image, but I am trying to produce a continually visible and printable image
between text blocks. Any tips ? Thanks - Ian_H

These were images that were already saved on the hard drive in JPEG format.
They pasted into a WordPad document alright, but after using "save as" and
agreeing to replace the previously named WordPad document they mysteriously
disappeared, as did some of the text. I am thinking it might be worth a try
at uninstalling and reinstalling WordPad, (does that seem like the way to go
to you experts ? ), but I do not know where to download WordPad from. Has
anyone else had the same problem ?

Thanks - Ian_H (still learning about computers)

Yes, your WordPad is not acting correctly but, try using "Save" rather than
"Save as" to avoid any confusion about which version of the file you are
opening.

Note also the huge inflation in the file size after pasting in anything
other than a clip art type image.

All seems to be working now. Not sure exactly why. Wordpad saved images are
still there when I reopen. Possibly v. large image size was the problem.
Anyway, thanks again for your help gentlemen Ian_H
