Trouble opening .mdb files with Excel

When using MS Excel to open MS access databse I get the following error.
"file name.mdb" cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be
trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored
on may not be responding. I have checked folder to make sure that the read
only attributte is not on, also the server is resonding.


Anyone with ideas on how to open this file? Other users on the network can
open this file with Excel with no problems.
